- New Year Honour for Col Roberta

We are delighted to report that Lt Col Roberta Turkington, DofE Advisor for ACFA Northern Ireland, has become a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the New Year Honours List in recognition of voluntary service to the Duke of Edinburgh's Award in Northern Ireland.

- Volunteering Army Cadets help Santa in Romania

Cadets of Alloa Detachment, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Bn ACF, have organised a shoebox collection on behalf of Rotary International as part of their Volunteering programme for their Silver award. The cadets organised the detachment to fill shoeboxes with presents for disadvantaged young people in Romania. Our picture shows the cadets being thanked by a member of Alloa Rotary Club.

- Area Commanders course gets In Action Together at Sandhurst

Students on the latest Area Commanders course show off their personal copy of the most up to date version of our In Action Together booklet on their visit to RMA Sandhurst. 49 delegates and staff representing 35 ACF Battalions and 2 CCF Contingents spent an invigorating weekend at CTC Frimley Park where the main topics were planning a DofE participants programme, PR for DofE, the Expedition Assessor Accreditation Scheme, the launch of the new In Action Together DVD - the DofE Adventure Starts Here, and a very close look at the rolling out of eDofE and its relationship to Westminster.

- The New In Action Together DVD is Here

The long awaited update of the DVD was launched at Frimley Park on 21st November, with representatives of all four Countries joining the editors, Lt Col Alistair Spowage and Lt Col Mike Gerrish for a photocall. Every Battalion and affiliated CCF Contingent in the UK has been issued the DVD on a scale of 2 per Company. Track your copies down now!

The Prince Charles Cadet Centre in Aberdeen was the venue for an Expedition Assessor Accreditation Scheme course. 5 leaders from 1 Highlanders Bn ACF joined with members of the Air Training Corps to complete the generic training day.

- SCOTS together for the Foundation Level Course

The hackles of all 5 Battalions of the Royal Regiment of Scotland (SCOTS) were represented at Drumshoreland when DofE leaders from 1 Highlanders, 2 Highlanders, Angus & Dundee Bn, West Lowland Bn, Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders Bn and Lothian & Borders Bn came together to gain their Foundation Certificate in DofE Leadership.

- Essex Cadets sail towards Gold

Congratulations to Mark Disney and Essex ACF for making the sailing experience of a lifetime available to 7 committed Essex ACF Gold participants around the west coast of Scotland. Despite challenging weather conditions, assessor Barry Fisher had no hesitation in declaring the expedition a success and expressing his admiration for all concerned.

Another successful Introduction to the DofE course was held at Drumshoreland, with Major Neal Dunn and Lt Col Ed Sandham preparing a keen band of leaders to go back to their units and work with their cadets on their DofE programmes.
